Iolite 2 x tumbles Pair of top A grade Iolite or Water Sapphire tumbles - the colour is far better than shown in this photograph Iolite is a beautiful violet blue stone (the word iolite is Greek for ‘violet’), said to be a stone of vision, which, therefore, aligns best with the Third Eye or Brow Chakra. It is from the Cordierite group of minerals, and is unusual in that is shows a strong pleochroism (an optical phenomenon caused by refracted light) which means it shows two colours. When viewed from one angle it can appear quite grey and lifeless, but when rotated in your hand through 90 degrees, it suddenly reveals the most beautiful violet colour!   It is a psychic stone par excellance! When all chakras are in alignment and it is placed on the third eye, it can assist greatly with psychic insight and vision. One of its best qualities, though, is that it is said to help access reasons behind addictive behaviour. Often these reasons are tied up with expectation - those placed upon us by people around us which we have incorrectly taken onboard.
